Short answer: with a whole lotta love. Longer answer: We started by working with a veterinary nutritionist who helped us formulate our complete and balanced dog and cat food recipes. Then we carefully source our ingredients (more on this below!), cook them at low temperatures in small batches and hand-pack them.

We source our ingredients from the same suppliers that supply your favorite restaurants and supermarkets! There’s absolutely no by-product, fillers, artificial flavoring or preservatives in our dog and cat food. Ever! We prepare our vet recommended dog/cat food in a human-grade facility. Because we adhere to human standards, we go through the same safety hoops that companies do to make your food. And because we’re obsessed with the quality, we test every batch of PawPots to make sure it hasn’t been contaminated by anything before sending it out.

Our fresh pet food is crafted using ingredients that are fit for humans, meaning their quality is the same as the quality of ingredients you buy in grocery stores. Unlike feed grade food, which includes low-quality ingredients that most knowledgeable dog/cat owners would prefer not to feed their pets. There even has been revealed that some feed grade products may contain potentially harmful elements, such as E. coli and listeria.

Nope! We’ve done all the prep work for you — You will receive your recurrent delivery based on your chosen delivery options, with enough food bags until next delivery. Every bag is for one day so it is easy to serve, while keeping the other unopened bags fresh. All you have to do is to stash the bags in the freezer, put one in the fridge every night to thaw it and feed it to your cat/dog the next day while watching them enjoy their fresh food. Boom. Some dog and cats LOVE the aroma and taste of warm PawPots – so try microwaving the meals! They’ll probably end up loving you even more than they already do 😉!

All our dog and cat food recipes were formulated after consulting a veterinarian and a nutritional expertise to ensure that our recipes are complete and balanced, so there is no need to ask your vet in case your dog/cat is healthy and behaving normally. You can rest assured that your pet is getting all the necessary nutrients to thrive in the precise amount they need. If your pet has specific health issues or has had trouble with what they’ve been fed in the past, always play it safe and talk to your vet first.

We work closely with vets to figure out the optimal meal plans for different combinations of breed, age, activity level, ideal weight, and sensitivities. That way, we can ask you the right questions to create a plan that’s truly customized to your dog/cat’s characteristics and needs. After you start, our trusty team is here every step of the way to help monitor your dog’s progress and make adjustments to your plan.

Depending on your chosen delivery frequency online, you will receive 7, 14 or 28 healthy meal bags. You would feed your dog/cat 1 bag per day (one bag contains 2 meals).

The calorie density of different natural foods can vary quite a bit. With this in mind you may find that your cat/dog requires a different volume of our wet food to their current food in order to provide the correct number of calories for them.

Our wet pet food contain 65-70% moisture, and this is completely normal compared to dry food. It helps keep your dog/cat hydrated, aids in digestion and nutrient absorption, and mimics a more natural diet for your pups and kittens. It can also be more palatable and assist with weight management and dental health. You can always keep water aside for whenever needed during the day.

We recommend using PawPots meals that are specifically tailored to your cat or dog. While our dog meal formulations won't harm a cat, they also don't provide the balanced nutritional needs that a cat requires in the long run, and vice versa.

All of our dog and cat recipes are meticulously balanced to provide the essential nutrients for long-term feeding. Our recipes are made based on a list of all the nutrients and vitamins your dog/cat needs (minerals, fiber, amino acids, fats, vitamins...). So additional multi-vitamins are not necessary unless your dog/cat has a specific medical case. Do not worry, PawPots follows the AAFCO standards closely.

After starting fresh food, it is normal for dogs and cats to have an increased appetite as they really like the taste and texture of it. This might seem like increased hunger but it actually is a good sign. Now for the caloric intake, we have a system that calculates the calories your dog or cat needs and therefore the amount of PawPots food they need. If you have any concerns, the ideal way to know if your pet is getting enough food is to monitor their weight. Weigh your dog or cat every 2-3 weeks and if there are any changes we can always accommodate.

Just as with humans, achieving weight loss for dog and cats boils down to the daily calorie intake and their conversion into usable energy. If your dog or cat is gaining weight, reduce the amount by 5-10% and weigh them every 2-3 weeks until you reach their perfect weight.

To determine your dog/cat's weight, follow these steps:
1. Weigh yourself on your floor scale.
2. Weigh yourself again while holding your dog/cat.
3. Calculate your dog/cat's weight by subtracting your weight (step 1) from the combined weight of you and your dog/cat (step 2).

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) recommends washing dog food and cat food bowls after each use and cleaning their water bowls daily. Dirty pet bowls/slow-feeders can harbor harmful bacteria that may upset your dog or cat's stomach or lead to infections. 

Regular cleaning makes sure they are happy and healthy by preventing the buildup of germs and maintaining their hygiene. 

We recommend washing them daily with warm, soapy water or in the dishwasher if it’s safe for the material.

Absolutely, it's all part of the process! When you switch your pet from dry to fresh food, you might see some changes in their stool—like size and consistency. That's actually a positive sign! Fresh food is often easier for pets to digest compared to kibble, which means they absorb more nutrients. So, their poop might be smaller, more compact, and even less smelly because there's less leftover waste. It's a great indicator that their body is making the most out of the wholesome new diet. Plus, you'll probably find it's firmer and easier to clean up.

For most dogs, this will be a 14-day trial meaning you will receive 14 days' worth of healthy food, and for bigger breeds (who need 500 Kcal per day or more) this will be a 7-day trial. You can choose the recipes in the trial pack when you sign up. If your dog doesn’t have any allergies or health concerns, we recommend a mixture so that they can try each one and decide on their favorites! You can then tweak your preferences for future orders.

The trial pack is a 7-day transition period where PawPots food should be gradually introduced into your dog's current diet:
Day 1-2: 25% PawPots + 75% current food.
Day 3-4: 50% PawPots + 50% current food.
Day 5-6: 75% PawPots + 25% current food.
Starting day 7 (or more): Feed 100% of PawPots.

There's a lot that goes on in the stomach when a dog's diet is changed, they may need a few days (or sometimes a bit longer) to adjust to the new ingredients, flavours and textures. Some dogs can take a week or more to move from dry food over to PawPots completely, so it's totally fine to go at your own pace here, swapping your pup’s old food as you go until they’re fully on PawPots. The probiotics that are provided with the trial pack make the transition even smoother.

With a blend of probiotics and prebiotic fiber, daily Probiotic helps in digestive health, gut flora balance, regularity and immune function. The trial pack that we offer includes probiotics, as they help in promoting a smoother digestion. These beneficial microorganisms not only make the transition easier but also ensure that your dog feels their best during the process. Give 1 chew per 15kgs body weight daily.

Having a good variety of balanced natural fresh dog food reduces the risk of developing food allergies. If your dog has a reaction to PawPots, eliminate the recipe that is causing the reactions and select our novel recipes. Using Novel Proteins helps in managing your dog's food allergies as prolonged exposure to the same protein is a common trigger for allergies. Some of our recipes are hypoallergenic like Yum-Yum Quail (only in Lebanon) and Fancy Turkey. You can always consult our vets via Vet Connect for any concerns.

Dogs can eat turmeric in moderation, and with proper caution, it is a very beneficial addition to a dog’s diet. It offers many advantages for dogs, including cardiovascular health and anti-aging effects. Turmeric also contains a compound called curcumin, which has benefits like antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties.

Most dogs can consume Brewer's yeast. In fact, it can provide several benefits for their health, as it acts as a prebiotic for the modulation of gut microflora, nourishing the healthy bacteria in your pup’s stomach, due to its β-glucan constituent, as well as boosting the immune system and helping with diabetes. However, there are a few precautions to keep in mind, depending on their breed and certain health issues such as kidney problems and sensitive stomachs.

One of the most awesome things about feeding your dog/cat a healthy diet made with real ingredients is that they actually love eating it. Not only does it taste delicious, but their bodies crave the quality fat and protein that come from the real ingredients that are in every PawPots meal. And we can personally attest to almost every type of dog/cat (even the picky eaters!) devouring our food.

Dry Dog food typically contains only around 5% moisture, with approximately 30% of its composition being protein, and the remaining portion consisting of starch and other ingredients. PawPots Fresh Dog food, on the other hand, is closer to the natural state of food, containing about 67% moisture. If we remove the water from PawPots recipes, we're left with approximately 33% solid ingredients. Thus, having 9 to 12% protein out of this 33% solid content equates to roughly 35% protein in PawPots Dog recipes, which can be compared to the protein content in dry food. This is of course without considering the quality and freshness of the protein in our products.

Here are some extra tips for transitioning them:

• Use persistence. Stick with the recipe for the first 6 to 7 days.

• Reduce treats during the transition period.

• Be patient, and avoid switching too quickly.

• Consider hand-feeding.

Some people think that dogs with yeast infections should eat a zero-carb diet, but there's no solid evidence that this helps. Instead, a grain-free diet might be a good choice because it avoids common allergens, which can be helpful for dogs with yeast issues. 1. A bland diet is an easy-to-digest meal for dogs with vomiting, diarrhea, or an upset stomach. It helps calm their tummies, reduce irritation, and support their recovery.
2. Feed it for 2 to 5 days, depending on your dog’s condition. Once they start feeling better, gradually mix in their regular PawPots meals over 2-3 days. Most dogs improve within 24-48 hours, but if symptoms persist, consult a vet. [LINK VET CONNECT]

Cats aren’t fussy: they’re neophobic : instinctively wary of new food. Here are some recommendations to help with the transition:
- Warm the food a little bit above room temperature (Give a 15 second "swizz" in the microwave)
- Sprinkle some of our liver powder on top to enhance the smell and flavor
- Decrease their treats as they can diminish your cat's appetite and reduce their motivation to eat.
- If your cat doesn’t eat at first on the first day, don’t leap in with something else
- Allow your cat to sniff and familiarize as cats are habit-oriented so they resist change
- Use persistence. Stick with the recipe for the first 6-7 days
 - Make sure to pet them to comfort before trying any new recipe.

We incorporate small amounts of 10-15% vegetables to replicate the natural diet of cats in the wild as they consume some vegetables despite them being carnivores. Veggies help with the digestion and bowel movement of cats, and provide all vitamins and minerals necessary. That way there is no need to give your cats any supplements.

Taurine is primarily found in animal-based proteins, such as meat, fish, and poultry. In the wild, cats would naturally get their taurine by consuming the tissues and organs of their prey, which are rich in this amino acid. However, in a domesticated setting, it's crucial to provide cats with a balanced diet that includes taurine. All our recipes contain 0.08% of Taurine. Do not worry, we follow the AAFCO standards, and we do make sure that your feline is taking enough taurine.

We know some cats prefer smaller, more frequent mealtimes. Serve as much as you want from the bag, then fold the top and secure it with a clip.
